SMILES ON THE CANAL DENTISTRY

Before you decide to make an appointment at Smiles On The Canal, we feel that it is important that we share our core values with you, so that you know what to expect from us. Here is what we stand for in our dental practice:

Patient-first Mentality: We will treat you with kindness, dignity, courtesy, sincerity, and respect. We will listen intently to your concerns and deliver upon what we say we will do.
Professional Excellence: We will provide you with the highest level care of dentistry that we can every day. We will work hard every day to improve your experience with us.
Organized and Efficient: No one likes the feeling of waiting endlessly at the doctor’s office! Our staff will take the time to explain what your visit will entail and what to expect from us. With the exception of needing to see emergencies, we always aim to see you at the time of your appointment.
Compassion: We are truly concerned for the well-being of our patients and our co-workers. We will listen first.
Humility: We will own our mistakes and shortcomings. Our staff is not perfect, but we can aim to create a near-perfect experience for you in our office.
When in doubt, do the right thing: We will always recommend what is in your best interest as it pertains to your oral health.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Are you currently accepting new patients?

A: Yes, we are! You can book online at the top of the page by clicking on ‘Schedule Online’ or by calling us at (585) 223-5480 to make an appointment.

Q: So what can I expect as a a new patient in your office?

A: As a new patient you can expect to receive high-quality care with your best interests in mind, and to be treated with respect and compassion in a clean, bright, and sanitized dental office that was recently renovated. We also know that your time is valuable, so we work hard to have your appointments start on time. At your first appointment with us, we will also take x-rays, if yours are not up-to-date, for the doctor to review. We also believe in keeping up with new technologies, so you can now make appointments with us online, right from your phone.

Q: Is there parking available at your dental office?

A: Yes, we are located at 124 Fairport Village Landing in Fairport, NY – directly above the Fairport Public Library and there is plenty of parking available in the large community lot outside of our practice. (See the virtual tour below the FAQ).

Q: Do you take my insurance?

A: We currently participate with, and are in-network with a number of major dental insurance plans including Excellus BlueCross BlueShield (Dental Blue Options), Delta Dental PPO & Delta Dental Premier, Guardian PPO, Cigna PPO, MetLife PPO and CSEA. However, it is important to remember that dental insurance is different from medical insurance in that there are annual coverage maximums, and not all services are covered in full, so you may have out-of-pocket expenses for treatment beyond preventative services. For treatment that is more extensive we request pre-treatment estimates from your insurance carrier to be able to provide you with a more accurate idea as to the cost of treatment. Note that we do not currently participate with Medicaid nor Child Health Plus.

Q: What are your hours of operation?

A: We are open Monday through Thursday from 8am to 5pm and Fridays from 8am to 3pm.

Q: What measures are you taking to keep patients safe in your office with regards to COVID-19?

A: In order to keep both you and our staff safe, there are some changes that you will notice once you come in for your next appointment. In compliance with recommendations from the CDC and the ADA we have invested heavily into PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) as well as additional healthcare equipment. This includes:

    • Top-rated Air filtration devices located throughout the office
    • Extraoral vacuums located in the treatment rooms for any procedures which produce aerosols (as of July 2020)
    • All Smiles On The Canal staff will wear face masks in the practice in all public areas
    • All clinical staff will also wear protective gowns over their dental scrubs
    • Patients will be contacted 48 hours prior to their appointment in order to review their medical history and confirm that they have not had contact with a COVID-19 positive individual (if the patient has had contact, one of our doctors will review in order to make a decision as to when the patient may be seen)
    • Patients will be asked to sanitize their hands at the entrance, and their temperature will be taken and recorded by a staff member. (We may also ask you to wait in your vehicle until the room is ready).

Your health and safety is our highest priority. We are doing all we can to ensure that you always have an outstanding experience at our dental office. Please let us know if you have any questions or feedback to share with our team!
